I was working with a client recently where he was having difficulty getting his Outlook 2016 to communicate with Apples iCloud services. At first I couldn’t get iCloud to repair as it kept throwing and error. I then attempted to uninstall iCloud without success. Currupt install I was guessing. I had to manually remove all components, services and registry entries that had to do with iCloud. Once this was done I successfully was able to re-install iCloud 5. As I tried to re-enable Mail, Contacts and Calendar within the iCloud control panel a window tells me to repair the iCloud install and try again. Since the repair wouldn’t work last this I was curious if the same would occur. Thankfully, the repair passed and said I was good to go or so I thought. As I attempted to re-enable the Mail, Contacts and Calendar setting I got the same error. This time though, Apple reporting allowed me to email the error to apple. The below is what I found:

I’m still investigating this issue and have read a lot about others having the same behavior but no one is talking about the above. My guess is Microsoft may have changed a few things in 365 no longer needing this file, OR it was deleted when the client un-installed Office 2010 soon after installing 365. What ever the case may be I did read another tech site saying that Outlook 2016 & iCloud are not compatible. Interesting as he did have it working just fine until he removed Office 2010.
